OTR Tire Radial Patches

HOW TO USE THESE CHARTS. Please note that these charts are only a suggestion and local driving conditions, etc. should be considered when making the proper selection of Chemco radial patches.

Determine the tire cross section corresponding to the injured tire. This will determine the appropriate patch selection. The chart then provides information outlining the maximum dimensions of the repairable injury. The maximum length of a repair is determined by its corresponding width. As the width of the injury increases, the maximum length decreases. The chart also indicates the minimum distance a crown patch must extend beyond the injury, or a sidewall patch must extend beyond the flex point of the sidewall onto the tire crown. Please refer to the diagrams below.

Note: The crown patch must not extend beyond the belt edge into the sidewall flex region. However, it must extend beyond the edge of the injury by the minimum distance (M). If not, a sidewall patch must be used.
Note: The sidewall patch should extend from the bead to the center of the crown area. It is recommended that the patch be placed to end 3/8" to 1 ½” (9.5mm to 38mm) above the bead. The sidewall patch must extend beyond the edge of the injury by the minimum distance (M). On shoulder or lower sidewall repairs, the patch must be placed to meet the minimum distance (M). The maximum length of the repair is determined by its corresponding width. As the width of an injury increases, the maximum length decreases (please refer to the accompanying size charts).
